NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- Police arrested a 41-year-old man after he called 911 and told officers that he was not given the correct change after buying crack cocaine from a drug dealer.
The North Charleston Police Department arrested Dexter White with disorderly conduct.
It all started last Friday around 4:30 a.m., when White called authorities and told officers that he had given $60 to a drug dealer for crack and only got back $20 worth of drugs.
White said the drug dealer refused to give him $40 back.
According to a police report, White then walked away from the drug dealer, smoked the crack he purchased and then called 911.
White was locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center.
People are always abusing 911. Isn't 911 for emergencies only? Getting shortchanged on any kind of deal is not an emergency. Whether its a crack deal, or some other kind of transaction. Legal or illegal. It really makes me angry when people abuse emergency services. Remember when the lady called 911 after Burger King messed up her order? What can the cop do about it? Nothing. It's basically Dexter's word against the crack dealer's word. The cop isn't going settle it. This seems more like something you would have to take to small-claims court, or Judge Judy or something like that. Even if crack was legal, calling the cops wasn't going to help in this case. So by calling the cops, Dexter fucked himself twice. At least he smoked the crack before calling the cops, though. So he made one smart move that day.
